First Class children have become eager 'bookworms' during the past few weeks in preparation for 'World Book Day'. We participated with other classes in our school in Offaly Library's 'Read Anything Anytime Anywhere' programme and engaged in DEAR (Drop Everything and Read) time each day.
Last Friday we celebrated 'World Book Day' in our classroom. In Maths we wrote number stories which we shared with our friends for them to enjoy and solve! We wrote stories and practiced our storytelling skills. Once we had perfected our skills of reading with expression we entertained Junior and Senior Infants, reading our stories to them. It was time for a break then so we watched 'Storytime Online' on the 'World Book Day' website. To conclude the day we had a Rhymes and Stories Table Quiz! Miss Carroll was very impressed with our scores. We know our rhymes and stories very well! We look forward to visiting the library in Tullamore with Second Class later this week.
