Amazing presentations this week in 5th class based on the Aztecs. Well done everyone!
We looked at a variety of objects at our investigation station and made our predictions about which objects would float and sink in plain water. Have a look at our record sheets which show our ideas before we did our investigation, and afterwards. We had a few surprises!
Let's Investigate! We investigated if our objects would float or sink in plain water. Then we checked if there would be any difference if we used salt water!
First Class have been learning all about water recently. We talked about sources of water; uses of water; keeping water clean and saving water. Have a look at some of our posters to remind everyone about where we get our water from; how we can save rather than waste it; and ways in which we use water every day.
We were lucky to have a visit and presentation by André Mc Quaid from Microsoft today. He spent an hour with 5th and 6th class showing them the coding activities on www.code.org which is a non-profit organisation that helps children around the world access coding.
During the month of January, Senior Infants have been learning about the uses of water on our journey to becoming a greener school! So we have put our lab coats on and conducted a very exciting experiment! Senior Infants will observe two potted plants on our classroom windowsill over the next few weeks . One will be watered using our school’s new water butt and the other will not. What do you predict will happen?
