Fifth class children in Durrow NS are busy as bees this week as they take part in the “Bizworld” initiative of Bank of Ireland to foster entrepreneurs into the future.
Bizworld is a “ Dragon’s Den – type” project that encourages the children to devise a service or project, pitch it to a group of greedy investors – in this case 4th class students – and try to get to the top of the pile by using their wits, charm and perseverance in presenting their idea to the panel.Bank of Ireland’s Bronagh Foley is working with the children throughout Monday and Mr. Joe Fennell, Branch Manager at Bank of Ireland ,Tullamore and a “mystery business person” will come on Tuesday to view the presentations and give the would-be entrepreneurs tips for the future.  This is a very enjoyable and educational experience for the children, exposing them to real-world situations and people who will judge them critically for their inventiveness and presentation skills. Who knows, the experiences may generate another Michael O’Leary or Michelle O’Leary of the midlands!
