Our Green Schools committee was formed in December 2017 and we decided to keep the same committee members again for the 2nd year (Sep 2018- June 2019) as a lot of pupils felt they were missing out by only being involved in Year 1.
When our 6th class left in June 2018, we replaced them by inviting new members from 2nd class. The committee members were selected by the class teacher. There are 4/5 pupils from each class from 2nd- 6th. Although the committee is made up of primarily senior pupils, it was agreed that they must represent the whole school body and aim to be as inclusive as possible.

Mary, our cleaner is also on the green Schools committee. Although she does not attend any of our meetings, her role is vital, as she communicates with us and keeps us informed with litter, recycling, leaks and the general upkeep of the school.
Our committee usually meets once a week, We usually meet in Ms. Gaughan’s room straight after big break. Our meetings usually take 20-25 minutes. Saoirse is in charge of taking the notes/minutes. The committee must report back to their classes and report any news/events. It’s important to constantly remind everyone that while we are working towards a new theme, we still have to maintain our litter, recycling and energy efforts going.
