Cyber Safety Week 2020
Our school are hosting our very own Cyber Safety week from Monday 12th - Friday 16th October 2020. We kick started with Garda Fergal Collins, our special guest speaker on Cyber Safety for 5th and 6th Class pupils last Friday. He gave a fantastic talk to all the pupils who learned valuable life skills, rules and regulations from the talk. We encourage all our pupils and parents to click on www.webwise.ie for further educational videos which will support you and your family with Cyber Safety. Online safety is crucial, in particular with children at such a young and vulnerable age. We ask all parents to encourage your children to be SAFE online and to study the videos on WEBWISE so that we are all aware of the possible threats to us.

First Holy Communion Class 2020
Our fantastic 2nd class pupils were suppose to make their First Holy Communion last Tuesday, 9th June in Durrow. Unfortunately, due to Covid-19 the boys and girls were so disappointed not to make their Holy Communion. BUT, their fantastic class teacher, Mr. Lynam ably assisted by Mr. Kelly (Principal), Mr Kelly's wife Brenda and Mr. Hynes on camera duty along with a Garda escort by one of our fantastic parents, Stacey O Brien.
The message at the end says it all! Well done Mr. Lynam and team. You made all those children's day very special.
Take a look at the video clip which shows the great excitement and surprise that the pupils received on the day.

Dear Parents
I hope this note finds as well as can be expected.
For our part, we will keep churning out the online tuition and we only expect that you do whatever you can in keeping with your home life and time availability. The offer of contact with you or you children stands. Just email any of our us and we can call or email you or your children personally.
SCHOOL NEWS:
Our Ms Kinahan (4th class) returns from her maternity leave on Monday 27th April. A big "thank you" to Ms Minnock for her drive and energy in the classroom and online.
Our Resource Teachers, Ms Cusack, Ms Murphy, Ms Gaughan and Mr Fahy have reached out to their charges in a personal way. Continue to be on the lookout for them. :)
TRAD GROUP:
So as to keep in touch with our Trad Group, I tasked Mr Fahy with building a website to carry our music tuition. As we have a huge cohort of guitar players, Mr Fahy has provided expert and extensive tuition in this area. Mr Hogan, Ms Carroll and I provide the different levels of Trad music for the children. As the video tutorials are carried by You Tube, the children's participation will need your usual supervision as one music video can lead on to another, in a different realm. I am very excited about the website and I know that the children will enjoy using it.

Until we get back to face-to-face teaching, do what you can with the online learning but by no means be under any pressure to keep up with everything. We will make sure that the children will all get back up to speed when we return.
Frank and Staff.
