Our school are delighted to be a school of digital distinction. We are very lucky to have a school that develops with the ever changing growth in education and society, digital technology playing a huge part of this too.
Durrow National school were very lucky to have received a grant in 2021 to implement initiatives aimed at addressing the digital divide and support our learners at risk of educational disadvantage as a consequence, as part of the Irish National Recovery and Resilience Plan (NRRP) a project under the Recovery and Resilience Facility funded by the European Union through Next Generation Eu. This funding was greatly used to further develop our digital approach and helped to enhance the following:
Upgrade of school equipment such as iPad, laptops, digital signage
Purchase of special software for developing typing, literacy, numeracy and learning programmes
Enhancing our overall school approach to STEM - robotics, coding and engineering
CPD training for staff in key areas
Developing digital portfolios by further developing home links using seesaw and google classroom
Using digital technology to further enhance digital storytelling for curricular subjects such as History, Science, Religion
Creating more awareness on Cybersafety to pupils and families both in and outside of school
Digital technologies gives staff but also pupils a chance to engage in learning with great access to further resources, supports, links and other online platforms. The skills involved in engaging with digital learning allows pupils to flourish in their own independent way too.
